- Abstract
The article discusses Muslims' attitudes towards free will, fatalism, destiny and the will of Allah, or Islam's God. An overview of the differences in Iranian and Saudi Arabian attitudes towards fatalism, including in regard to the former Saudi King Fahd's perspective on the attribution of God's will to the 1990 collapse of the al-Mu'aysim Passageway in Saudi Arabia, is provided. An overview of the history of fate and fatalism in Islamic countries from the mid 19th century through the early 21st century is also provided.
