- Abstract
This study aims to research the clinical efficacy of ozone therapy on experimentally induced hydrofluoric (HFA) acidic skin burns in rats. The study material consists of 20 healthy male rats weighing 200-250 g. The animals were grouped as experimental and control group, with 10 animals in each. Acidic skin burn was created with 38% HFA under general anaesthesia in all groups. Ozonated liquid Vaseline was applied daily to the wound area in experimental group for 7 days and 0.9% saline was applied daily to the control group for 7 days. In the study, bullae, erythema, necrosis, healing, hair growth and damaged area data were clinically evaluated and statistically compared. As a result of the statistical analysis, there was no significant difference determined between the experimental and control group in clinical examination but there was a significant difference found in hair growth (P<0.05). As a result of this study; It was determined that the number of animals which recovered in the group treated with ozone treatment in experimentally induced acidic skin burns was higher and the recovery was statistically significant in the 8thday experimental group. It was concluded that ozone may be more favourable than hydrotherapy in emergency interventions in acidic skin burns, However, more detailed research on the subject is needed.
