The article discusses how companies and market researchers can use the Internet web site Facebook to better network with customers. For a relatively small sum of money a firm can pose a question to a Facebook audience of a specified size, and receive an answer within hours. Skittles Bubble Gum uses a Facebook group as an audience for more conventional surveys. Cadbury decided to relaunch a discontinued candy bar after being petitioned by 14,000 Facebook members. Social networks such as Facebook could prove a valuable adjunct to more rigorous market research techniques.
