A criticism of the poetry within the book "Poetical Sketches," by Ann Batten Cristall, including the poems "A Song of Arla, Written During Her Enthusiasm," "Written When the Mind Was Oppressed" and "Holbain." Particular focus is given to the poems' portrayal of passion and sensibility, including in regard to the relationship between emotions and rationality.
