- Abstract
The article focuses on a research which demonstrates application of engineering of the hexaploid wheat genome using sequencespecific nucleases (SSNs) to prevent the powdery mildew, a devastating fungal disease in wheat, as of September 2014. Topics discussed include technological challenge in carrying out targeted genome modification in crops, governmental regulatory issues related to the approval for developing the mildew-resistant wheat line in the U.S. and costs of transgenic wheat.
