- Abstract
The article provides information on the traditional culture of the Old Believers of the Baraba and the Vasiuganiye in Western Siberia, Russia as well as the in Fedoseyev communities in Novosibirsk and Omsk, Russia. It states that the Old Believers migrated in Vasiugan taiga-marshy region, Siberia from provinces in the former Russian Empire due to lack of land in places of their former residence. It discusses the ornamentation features of women needlework of the Old Believers which depict diverse patterns, working techniques, and different types of materials. It notes that the ornamentation patterns in the collection of towels can be subdivided into five categories associated with certain ethnic groups and certain chronological periods including Kerzhak towels and tambour stitch towels.
