- Title
City of New York v. Verizon New York, Inc.
- Authors
LEIGH, MICHAEL T.
- Abstract
The article discusses a court case wherein the Supreme Court of New York stated that Verizon New York, Inc. was given a state franchise which granted the company an interest in perpetuity although there was insufficient record for determining the adequacy and rationality of the compensation of Verizon to the city. In City of New York v. Verizon New York, Inc., Verizon is following the Transportation Corporations Law (TCL) section 27 but the court interpreted that the legal standard has systematically undermined public interest.
