- Abstract
This article discusses a case report of a patient who experienced severe abdominal pain, dumping syndrome, and diarrhea after undergoing bariatric surgery. The patient's symptoms persisted despite dietary adjustments for dumping syndrome, but improved after eliminating artificial sweeteners from her diet. The article suggests that food intake, particularly the consumption of ultra-processed foods and artificial sweeteners, may play a significant role in the development of abdominal pain and gastrointestinal complaints after bariatric surgery. The authors emphasize the need for further research and the development of dietary strategies to improve patient outcomes.
