- Title
DATA PROTECTION MEETS WEB 2.0: TWO SHIPS PASSING IN THE NIGHT.
- Authors
Roth, Paul
- Abstract
The article discusses common exemptions to data protection regulation which is applicable to web 2.0 activities in New Zealand, Australia, and Great Britain with common law jurisdictions. It suggests that data protection regulation is an unsuited way to deal with web 2.0 activities due to its cross border nature and sheer extent. It adds that the online environment can be governed by existing conventional criminal offences like invasion of privacy and defamation, instead of data protection law.
