- Title
Pre-service teacher beliefs about language learning: The second language acquisition course as an agent for change.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which explores the impact of second language acquisition (SLA) course on the beliefs of preservice teachers about language learning in California. Areas in the changes of the beliefs of student teachers are examined which include length of time for acquisition, the importance of grammar and the efficacy of audio-lingual learning strategies. It is inferred that post-course changes in the beliefs were attributed to SLA content and experiential activities. The implications of the preservice teacher beliefs on the course design and evaluation in teacher education programs.
