- Abstract
The article presents news related to health policy in the U.S. government. National Governors Association (NGA) has advocated a plan to increase access to health care. Escalating health care costs and access to care will be top priorities for the coming year. According to the NGA, state Medicaid costs have increased in excess of 18 per cent while state revenues rose 4 per cent. NGA has appealed to the U.S. Congress to freeze any further expansions in Medicaid benefits for 2 years. Rising prescription drug costs have come under the close scrutiny of the U.S. Senate Aging Committee.
