- Abstract
The article presents information on the June 2002 issue of the periodical "Sociological Forum." There is need to sustain the quality of this scholarly meeting ground while treating the authors, the reviewers, and the readers who come to it with fairness, tact, promptness, and collegiality. The manuscript review process of scholarly journals is a critical foundation of our scholarly life. The journal so used to it that it commonly takes it for granted, neglecting to recognize how extraordinary it is to subject everyone's work to a blind review by authoritative critics, without regard for the author's status. Making sure this process works, fairly, accurately, and expeditiously, is the first responsibility of every editor of a scholarly journal. The Sociological Forum is a journal that has been extremely well edited from its origins under journalist Robin Williams through the sure hands of the author's immediate predecessor Richard Hall. The sound foundation that they put into place is what gives the both the responsibility and the opportunity to build further.
