- Abstract
The article presents a description of the engraving technique used to design a single-strand Islamic rosary submitted by Umit Koruturk of Australian Pure Pearl to the Dubai Gemstone Laboratory in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The rosary is made up of 33 engraved round cultured black pearls with two button-shaped pearls used to separate the bigger pearls. The pearls were coated with a colorless substance for protection. The black pearls did not respond to long- and short-wave ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
