- Abstract
Fourteen poor-surgical-risk patients suffering from severe leg ischemia due to aortoiliac occlusive disease were treated by axillofemoral bypass graft at Hines V. A. Hospital during 1966 to 1968. Results were as follows: good, seven patients; fair, two patients; poor, one patient; death, four patients, one not directly related to surgery. Although long-term results are not yet available, this "subcutaneous" type of bypass seems to offer this group of patients a safe alternative to a major amputation or to a direct surgical attack to the aortoiliac segment.
