- Abstract
This article is a tribute to the outgoing editor of Ecological Restoration, Steven Handel, and introduces the new editor, Scott R. Abella. Steven Handel had a distinguished career in ecology and played a significant role in advancing the use of native plants, ecological restoration, and human connections with ecosystems. He led and contributed to numerous restoration projects, including designing urban habitat enhancement for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the Orange County Great Park in California. Steven's work has been recognized with prestigious awards, and he has published over 100 scientific papers. The article expresses gratitude to Steven for his contributions and announces that the rest of the journal staff will continue their roles.
