- Abstract
Arc is the largest .Paleoindian site in New York state. The large quantity and diversity of Paleoindian artifacts, abundance of flaked-stone performs, and close proximity to a high-quality Onondaga chart source demonstrate that the site functioned as a workshop with domestic activities And protracted periods of habitation. Stylistically, the artifacts are consistent with those described and illustrated as both Clovis and Gainey. Radiocarbon dating of buried late Pleistocene and Nolocene stratigraphy suggests that the Paleoindian habitation predates 10,370±108 B.P., an age approximation statistically comparable to chronometric dates obtained from other Paleoindian sites in northeastern North America.
