- Authors
Friel, David
- Abstract
The article discusses the tension between the universal and the inculturated aspects of Roman Catholic liturgical music. It argues that Gregorian chant is uniquely qualified to bridge these apparent divides because of several extraordinary attributes it possesses. The article also explores the relationship between universality and inculturation, and the balance between liturgical unity and uniformity.
