- Authors
Weber, Paul Mathew
- Abstract
The article examines the harmonic style of the eighteenth-century and analyzes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's motet "Ave Verum Corpus, KV618" (AVC). The author discusses the late eighteenth century with its pan-European style built on Western tonal system, during which time Mozart produced much of his music. A musical notation of AVC, which was written six months before Mozart's death, is included. The author explores the interaction of its sonata-style structure and its text, which consists of eight lines grouped into four couplets.
