- Title
Building Bridges Between Parents and Researchers in Children's Mental Health Evaluation Using Focus Groups.
- Authors
Andonian, Jeanette M.
- Abstract
This article highlights the use of focus groups as a means for empowering, strengthsbased, parent-driven evaluation in children's mental health services. The interactive communication that occurs in focus groups as a vehicle for participatory research is well suited to the contemporary paradigm of collaborative care that is now the basis for practice in children's mental health service systems. It is important to note that the term parent, used throughout this work, is applied in the most inclusive sense, referring to any person who is a primary caregiver of a child or children.
