Using drones for conservation.
- Authors
Deel, Lindsay
- Abstract
The article highlights Conservation-Drones.org, a non-profit entity created by environmental scientists Lian Pin Koh and Serge Wich in 2012 that develops low-cost drones for surveying wildlife, mapping land cover, and detecting poachers in protected areas. Koh relates that his organization has made some progress in overcoming the widespread public perception of drones as deadly weapons and in demonstrating how civilian drones can be a game-changing technology in the field of conservation.
