- Abstract
The article presents information on a series of debates over the Employment Relations (Probationary Employment) Amendment Bill in New Zealand in which many labor union leaders and media participated. Council of Trade Union leader Carol Beaumont criticized the bill, accusing that it would curb rights of every employee in New Zealand. Legislator Wayne Mapp who promoted the bill retaliated that the Bill would help new workers and assist those on the margins of the labor force to be empowered. Media also involved in the debate when the junior doctors started strike actions against the Bill.
