Title
A Huge Tooth.
Abstract
The article reports on a study concerning the functions of the 2.4-meter tooth emerging from the head of the narwhal. Harvard School of Dental Medicine researcher Martin Nweeia has provided an answer to the marine science question. Nweeia discovered that the narwhal's tooth has hydrodynamic sensor capabilities. There are ten million tiny nerve connections tunneled from the central nerve of the narwhal tusk that are capable of detecting changes in water temperature, pressure, and particle gradients.
