- Abstract
The article reports that hearings before the U.S. Congress committees portend deficit spending for Social Security disability benefits by 2016. It states that its is time for creative, meaningful change to restore the purpose of Social Security disability, and offers suggestions, including redefining disability, adjusting the age break points, and curtailing the fiction of sedentary and light disability. The article also recommends replacing the grids and changing the jurisprudence.
