- Title
Evolutionary biology: Dating chimpanzees.
- Authors
Haslam, Michael
- Abstract
The author reflects on a study that showed that some modern chimpanzee communities probably existed for hundreds or even thousands of years and mentions that authors of the study used genetic markers on the Y chromosome, which are transferred only from father to son, in order to examine the relationships between eight communities of East African chimpanzees in Uganda. The author further discusses the studies in relation to genetics, evolutionary biology and social learning in chimpanzees.
