- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports on budget plans for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to address the end of its financial support from the state of California by 2021. Topics include the impact of budget shortfalls in California, the cancellation of its only embryonic stem cell clinical trial in 2011, and the uncertainty of federal stem cell funding after 2012. CIRM is looking to a non-profit model of private funding as well as focusing on the clinical applications of its research.
