A mirror now in the British Museum, which was found in 1845 at Perugia and immediately published by Vermiglioli, gave rise to many imitations, especially around 1865 when the construction of a railway line gave the opportunity to the counterfeiters to claim that their fakes had been discovered during this work. These false mirrors are here discussed.
