- Abstract
Sáenz de Oíza, as a member of the Third Generation, is reviewed through the comparison between his project of apartments in Alcudia and some aspects of the work of Danish architect Jørn Utzon. An excuse for this is the common feeling of having found on the island of Mallorca a point of spiritual retreat and rest, to which Rafael Moneo, who worked at the beginning of his carreer with both, is added today. The deep feeling of emergency caused by the First World War will require the construction in series as a key factor for accommodation. A new language, effective for the dreamed means of mass production, will end up being scarce for architects born in the interwar period. We will see how the mechanisms that have served to offer social housing in Madrid, as emergency accommodation, are revised and adapted to a new situation in which Man wishes to return to be the protagonist of the architectural space, both in Leisure (Mallorca) and in his negation, the Work.
