- Abstract
The article discusses the pathways to state property tax reform in Australia. Reforming property taxes are expected to create a more sustainable housing system and to provide additional economic and social dividends. A nationally coordinated incremental strategy for property tax reform is proposed. Also discussed are the suggested further integration of state and local property tax collection and the right of state and local governments to determine policy settings and the trajectory of reform.
