Title
Rethinking posttraumatic stress disorder.
Abstract
This article explores the pathology of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The authors begin by discussing three kinds of symptoms of PTSD: hyperarousal; re-experiencing or intrusion; and avoidance and emotional numbing. They cite some studies examining traumatic events and symptoms of PTSD. They also investigate the connection between gender and the development of PTSD. Further, the authors look at the diagnosis of the disorder.
