- Abstract
The modern way of living based on the values and innovations that greatly improved the lives of human beings, compared with periods centuries ago. The benefits are particularly pronounced in communications, transportation, energy sector. We should not neglect the achievements in the proclamation and protection of human rights, a process that gained momentum after World War II. The process of globalization is present in all segments of activity and operations. Yet it is wrong to say that the benefits have only positive effects, namely crime as a phenomenon seeks and succeeds most of the technological advances to adapt them for their own purposes. Open society means free flow of people, ideas and capital, but these benefits are used by criminal organizations which are transformed into transnational organizations. One of their main features is the neglect of national, religious or other differences and putting in the forefront of profits from criminal activity. The globalization of crime should respond to the globalization of the action to counteract this socially harmful phenomenon. Transnational organized crime has imposed the need for a new supranational cooperation mechanisms between countries in several areas, including judicial cooperation. The processes of integration and mutual harmonization of the level of European Union, initiated from the idea of creating a common space of freedom, security and justice, and the need for free circulation of judicial decisions, have led to a reassessment of extradition as a form of international criminal justice cooperation and its replacement with a simplified system that would function between judicial authorities of different countries, members of the European Union.
