- Abstract
The article focuses on the geographic distribution of four bird species including Ardea cocoi, Tangara icterocephala, and Sicalis taczanowskii in Esmeraldas, Ecuador. It states that the Cabo San Francisco Foundation established the Rain Forest project in 2004 and 2005 which aim to promote agroforestry to local farmers for natural resources conservation. It mentions that the Cocoi Heron or Ardea cocoi were seen foraging in the mangroves of Muisne, south-western Esmeraldas. Meanwhile, the Silver-Throated Tanager or Tangara icterocephala were present in the foothills of Andean subtropics and one isolated record at Bilsa Biological Station. Furthermore, the Sulphur-Throated Finch or Sicalis taczanowskii has been recorded in the area of Loja, El Oro and Guayas provinces.
