- Abstract
In recent years, the Western medicine treatment of advanced digestive tract cancers has developed rapidly, but it still has shortcomings such as a short survival time, high toxicity, and poor quality of life. Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes holistic concepts, syndrome differentiation, and treatment, as well as patient satisfaction and quality of life. It is unique in improving the life quality of patients, prolonging their survival time, and reducing the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In recent years, this team has cooperated with the Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the School of Statistics of Renmin University to conduct a series of explorations into the characteristics of advanced digestive tract cancers in traditional Chinese medicine and the path of diagnosis and treatment. The potential and advantages of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of tumors will guide clinical medication and clinical research and in integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of advanced digestive tract tumors in a manner suitable for the Chinese people.
