- Abstract
A number of innovative methods are used in the training of healthcare professionals, for which it have been proven to develop the creative potential, the individual critical (clinical) thinking, stimulate the search for new knowledge and innovative solutions, motivation to learn. The use of individual clinical cases in the practical training of midwifery students is still not popular enough in our country. There is no consensus on whether it is a method, a technique or a system. We accept and present it as a didactic method in the practical training of students of midwifery. It is a combination of regulated collaborative actions of the teacher and the student aimed at fulfilling the educational goals. The students become active subjects in the learning process, they have the opportunity to develop ideas, build and test hypotheses, to draw conclusions, to listen to each other, to learn to work in a team. By means of modeled problematic professional situations thematic units of the educational content are learnt. The method is not related to mastering of ready-made knowledge, but to acquiring professional competencies by solidifying the theoretical knowledge and their application in a practical environment. Interdisciplinarity is achieved with the possibility of a complete perception of the situation. The report presents the attitudes of the teachers and the students of midwifery to work with individual clinical cases in different forms of education, and the skills that are formed when working with them. The advantage of this educational method is revealed - solidifying of knowledge, building practical skills and habits, development of necessary qualities for the formation of a professional position and attitude, motivation for building on the training. The didactic research was conducted at the “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse, Department of Health Care, specialty Midwife. The students have used individual clinical cases in their education for years, they have a textbook. The results are presented graphically. The conclusions have been drawn.
