- Abstract
The article discusses the use of clinical documentation and electronic medical records in the optimization of patient care and prevention of medical care fraud. It explains that the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is not an abuse and fraud enforcement agency. It comments that the primary focus of the ONC is to improve patient care, and mentions the ONC has sponsored projects to identify opportunities to lessen risks for improper billing practices.
