- Title
Preventing Atrial Fibrillation: More Evidence to Turn Up the Heat.
- Authors
MURRAY, KATHERINE T.; MACE, LISA C.
- Abstract
The editorial comments on research evidence that heat shock proteins have a role in preventing atrial fibrillation (AF). An atrial cell tachypacing model that shows protection against tachycardia-induced remodeling, research that AF susceptibility is reduced by heat shock proteins, and the suppression of pulmonary vein cardiomyocyte automaticity are discussed. The modulation of beta-adrenergic agonist and angiotensin II effects with heat-stress responses is mentioned.
