- Title
Christian Eschatology and the Chester "Judgment".
- Authors
Ovitt, George
- Abstract
The article presents an analysis on the Christian eschatology in the presentation of Judgment in Chester mystery plays. Of all the four mystery cycles mentioned, Chester had been able to present the longest and most developed treatment of Judgment. Chester's Judgment is inferred to focus on the coming of Antichrist through the recitation of the prophecies of Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Daniel. Also, each text of the prophetic play was found to be a prophecy of Christ's role in the Judgment.
