- Abstract
The article examines the progress of college financial aid in the U.S. It explores the Economic Opportunity Act and the Higher Education Act passed by the Congress in 1964 under President Lyndon Johnson which addresses areas like educational opportunity grants, college work study and guaranteed student loans. It discusses the impact of admission and financial aid policies on students. A chart depicting the student aid distribution in 2012 and 2013 is also presented.
