- Abstract
The article focuses on the upregulation of Nav1.7 protein in dorsal root ganglion and sympathetic ganglion neurons with the help of high salt concentration. Topics discussed include association of the protein dysfunction with primary erythermalgia and paroxysmal extreme pain disorder, effect of mediators such as prostaglandin, adenosine and serotonin on electrophysiological properties of sodium channels, and role of the protein as a channel to irritable bowel syndrome.
