- Title
Donner á Voir: Sacrifice and Poetry in the Work of Georges Bataille.
- Authors
FFRENCH, PATRICK
- Abstract
The article examines sacrifice and poetry in the work of French author Georges Bataille after World War II. It gives special attention to the limited writing of the writer on the Nazi concentration and death camps. Also explored is his writing on poetry aimed at demonstrating how it serves as the terrain onto which questions about sacrifice posed in more explicitly anthropological and political domains are displaced. It notes the existence of an implicit critique of the economism and comedy of sacrifice in such works by Bataille.
