- Authors
Feiber, Albert A.
- Abstract
The article traces the history of Max and Maria Wutz, a wealthy couple from Bavaria, Germany, who had been early members and supporters of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) immediately after its establishment in Munich, Germany, in the wake of World War I. The author uses the example of the Wutzes to study the social networks of early Nazis in twentieth-century Germany. Issues addressed include Max Wutz's participation in NSDAP party work, political offenses, and the party's abortive attempted coup d'état on November 8/9, 1923, his financial and legal dealings with other early Nazis such as Emil Gansser, Dietrich Eckart, and Baroness Claire von Abegg, and the couple's activities after 1945.
