- Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine prospective physics teachers' opinions on the physics textbook for the 9th grade which was prepared in accordance with the 2007 secondary education curriculum; to examine these opinions in terms of variables such as the means of encountering the book and the degree of knowledge of the book; and to compare prospective teachers' opinions with the physics teachers' opinions ascertained in another study by the present authors. A scanning model was used in the research. The sample of the research consists of 69 prospective physics teachers studying in the final grade in the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 academic years. A 131-item textbook assessment scale and a questionnaire form with additional questions were used as data collecting instruments. The textbook Physics 9 was assessed as "good" by prospective teachers and assessed as "adequate" by teachers. It was observed that the prospective teachers had more positive views than teachers about the textbook.
