- Authors
Rowe, Samuel
- Abstract
The article looks at the debates about equality and inequality in 18th-century British studies based on the early political thought and fiction by William Godwin. Topics discussed include the stylistic hesitation in presenting two cases for equality in the 1797 essay he wrote which reflects the hesitation between intellectual and political paradigms, fragmentation in the debate on equality, and the portrayal of social inequality in his novel "Caleb Williams."
