MULTI-AXIS SUSPENSION TESTING.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the development of six- and 12-axis test rigs to enable laboratory evaluation of race car designs. Servo hydraulic actuators are controlled to test a component or subassembly under conditions similar to those on the race track. Forces affecting the wheels are simulated by six hydraulic actuators. The 12-axis test rig was designed so a complete front or rear could be tested. This allows changes to suspension geometry to be evaluated and aids the development of the car.
