Title
Mars rover descent rate controlled by friction coating.
Abstract
Reports that a plasmadize thermal spray composite coating was developed by General Magnaplate Corp. to provide friction in a brake-engaging shaft which slows the decent of the U.S. National Aeronautical and Space Administration Rover onto the surface of Mars. Capability of the plasmadize coating to provide high levels of wear and corrosion resistance.
