- Abstract
In this study, in teaching the subjects such as solid, liquid, and gas pressure in the unit "if pressure never existed" involved in the science course programmed of 7th grade at primary school, the effects of Constructivist Learning Approach supported by reviewing strategy and Traditional Teaching Approach on intergroup achievements, intra-group success and on the permanence of inter and intra group knowledge were investigated. A total of 77 students from two classes selected at random in a primary school in the Diyarbakır province, were included into the study. One of the classes was taken as experimental group in which Constructivist Learning Approach supported by reviewing strategy was applied; the other was taken as control group in which Traditional Teaching Approach was applied. Both groups were determined to be equal in the pre-test of the Achievement Test. In addition, a success test was applied to reveal the achievement, success and permanence of the groups. On the basis of the data obtained from the study, it was observed that the experimental and control group's levels of achievement has enhanced by a significant difference, there has been a significant difference in favor of experimental group in terms of intra-group success, inter- group retention has formed, and that there has been no difference in view of intra-group retention.
