- Abstract
The article discusses the topics in three letters written by or for Acadians on île Saint-Jean in Canada's Gulf of Saint Lawrence before the deportations of 1758. A translation of the August 5, 1750 letter written by Augustin Doucet from Port-la-Joie to his aunt Madame Langedoc of Sault des Matelots in Quebec is presented. Françoise (Pitre) Boutin's June 20, 1755 letter from Trois-Rivieres settlement to her children about the death of their father is presented. Paul Dorion's August 23, 1752 letter is to the French inhabitants in Nova Scotia sent to Governor Hopson is presented. Sources of information are noted.
