- Abstract
The author focuses on the need for an aggressive management by trained surgeons in the treatment of endemic goiter. The article presents that goiter prevalence remains high in Western Nepal despite the introduction of universal salt iodization programs to prevent iodine deficiency. The author also presents the risks and benefits of total thyroidectomy when performed by specialized endocrine surgeons.
