- Abstract
Cholelithiasis is one of the most common disorders treated operatively on surgical wards. It mostly affects Caucasian women of reproductive age. Symptomatic cases are usually treated laparoscopically. Intraoperative picture is characteristic and rarely requires conversion to the classical method. In unusual presentations the surgery should be expanded for a careful revision of the abdominal cavity and collection of additional material for diagnostic tests. In the present case, the intraoperative picture was exceptionally unusual. The entire abdominal cavity was filled with mucous-gelatinous lesions in inflammation. Therefore, the procedure was converted and material precisely collected for pathological studies. The conducted histopathological examination excluded the presence of neoplasm as the prepared microscopic samples showed features of hyaline degeneration. Due to the exceptionally unusual image of the morphological changes described we decided to present this case.
