The article discusses the New York Court of Appeals' ruling in the 2015 case Universal American Corp. v. National Union Fire Ins. Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa. which deals with an insurance indemnification rider for losses due to computer systems fraud, and it mentions computer fraud claims in relation to insurance coverage involving electronic health care records (EHRs) and big data. The fraudulent entry of data into a computer system is examined, along with civil and criminal penalties.
