The article focuses on resolving disputes between fractionalized mineral owners in Appalachia region. Topics discussed include dispute among both state and federal courts in West Virginia and Kentucky regarding pipeline relocation and cost of relocation; history of the cases including Elk Horn Coal Corp. v. Kentucky-West Virginia Gas Co., related to rights of gas pipeline owners and coal operators, and the Too Obvious to Need Expression Doctrine of implied obligations in contracts.
